Our Review Breakdown: Officially, GVB had not opened yet, but we noticed the neon “open” sign blaring in the window and decided to stop to find it completely packed. This was their “soft opening,” officially they open on Monday, January 23rd. They were so busy, they were running out of beer! With 11 beers on tap, one of the extremely cool and knowledgeable bar tenders, brought us 8 tastes. This made it very difficult to decide, as we liked all but one sample. We started with Beaverton Blonde and Rye PA. Both delicious. Then we ordered the Carlton Kölsh and 3rd St. Wheat. The three bearded bartenders, Chris, Kyle, and Bear, were kickin’ some serious ass behind the bar – friendly, funny, attentive, and well educated on the brews. The food menu is massive, decent happy hour menu (no drink specials tho…) and from what we could tell, people were enjoying it. GVB food is raised on a local McMinnville farm – not certified organic, but might as well be. Our GVBBBQ burger was excellent. Atmosphere is hard to say since it was crazy busy, but there’s a good chance we’ll be regulars here. Oh, forgot to mention for the wine drinkers, GVB has several small local Portland winery choices available on cask – very cool.
Bottom Line: We were here for 4 hours...spent our wad. Totally worth it.
The Little Things:
- Wi-fi
- No late happy hour
- Excellent full bar selection
- Buy a pitcher – much better deal
- No hook under the bar
